Reviews
The pizza is good. It's cheaper than the kosher place down the street and has better service. The staff was really nice. I ate there and they brought my food out to me. Place was clean but could use a big makeover
Absolutely delicious food! The service is top-notch and they make every customer feel that their order is the top priority. Besides for the cheapest prices in town, Pomona pizza also boasts the best tasting food! No hassle parking is a huge plus! All the other pizza places in town kill lunch time with terrible parking situations. If you're hungry for a slice or more, Pomona pizza is the spot!
Edit: They've done it!!! After putting in a request, I've been informed that Pomona Pizza had now put delicious Pouttine on the menu!!!!
Very good kosher pizza place in Pomona! Pizza guy knows what he is doing and owners are committed to serving fresh and delicious meals. Pizza is freshly made and crispy. An exceptional place overall.
The term hidden gem is massively overused, but this is pretty close to dictionary definition. I've basically been side-eyeing this place since I started working in the area about two months ago - it looks like an absolute dive and rather tellingly, none of my co-workers who've lived in the area for years have ever been inside and the only insight they could offer was to shrug apologetically and tell me that a lot of kosher establishments try to squeeze as many food genres into their business model as they can, hence a pizza place that also serves sushi. Fascinating. A few days ago, I was feeling ambitious enough to give this a shot, confirming ahead of time that we had enough food in the office if the adventure quickly nosedived and I still needed sustenance. Instead, this ended up being an incredibly pleasant surprise and a very solid lunch.
I can't say this ISN'T a dive. I'm sure a solid portion of Pomona Pizza's business is the to-go crowd, but there is a room to the side for dine-in patrons and it's not exactly the Shangri-La. There's some water stains on the ceiling, and aside from a mural on the wall that I think depicts the Italian countryside or something similar, I would guess very little money has been spent on the interior. And arguably you really don't need to - there's a pizza oven, a small sushi bar and enough seating to plop yourself down comfortably. It's probably enough.
Since I really wasn't sure if I'd ever come back, I figured I'd just go for it, and I ordered a plain slice ($3.50) and a Volcano roll ($15). The slice was really good - the sauce was super flavorful and I prefer pizza like this to be a little overcooked, which it was. It was a little too hot from the reheat and ended up melting not one but two plastic forks (I'm very classy with my pizza slices), so I think I'd just get these at room temperature next time. The sushi was also really decent. Since I had no idea what I was dealing with, I thought it would be safest to go with a cooked/tempura roll. The fish was very fresh, and my only minor qualm was that the sauces on top were a little too watery, but that's barely a complaint.
The price point is all over the place. The items I got were very competitive; a special, cooked sushi roll for $15? Absolutely down for that. But their regular rolls are incredibly overpriced - sweet potato rolls in the middle of civilization (which this is not) should be about $5, maybe $6. These are $9, which I'd say was the average for all rolls in that genre, including classics like salmon/avocado. Way too much.
Definitely give this a try. It's a memorable experience any way you look at it, and I'm glad after suffering through some pretty underwhelming lunch situations that I actually have a decent spot to walk to now.
Pizza was really delicious and the people behind the counter are very nice. I would highly recommend it for takeout only. The store is terribly run down. The tables and the floor are not clean.
They were so accommodating when I had a baby in the car and came out with the pizza💓💓 it was also delish:)
Edit Jul 2021-
Unbelievably, this store somehow got/claimed all the reviews from the OTHER PIZZA STORE!!! What is going on?!?! …
Want to buy pizza today looks like it's temporary closed or permanent don't know no sign on the door to let you know the owner should it announced it on Google or his website
This a Kosher family own place. Service is very fast everyone on the hop behind the counter. They have a good size menu. The place is divided into two side. The pizza 🍕 side normal business side and the sit down side to dine in, and this …
Excellent Pizza but service is poor. My Mom took a Table but one lady host came and asked her to move somewhere else because she wanted to combine two adjacent Tables for a group which just arrived behind us. This is a Rude practice and …
